Sanuk’s Wingnut “Working Hard” in the Maldives

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Sanuk’s Robert “Wingnut” Weaver knows a thing or two about fancy footwork. Maybe it’s because when he’s not stickin’ ten toes over the nose, he’s kicking back in a pair of Sanuks. Or maybe it’s because he’s been busy logging Endless Summer…after summer…after summer in remote areas like the Maldives.

So this is what a tough day at the office looks like… Wingnut’s weapon of choice for this board meeting? A trusty, royal blue, 9′0″ Platinum single fin.

Wait a minute! What is that little buddy sitting pretty on towards the nose… It’s us smiling back! Dang, we look good…

Aside from sliding his way around the globe, Wingnut also happens to be quite the mobile upload extraordinaire. No joke. He’s got a section on his Facebook Page called, “…Where’s Wingnut?”. Check it out because even we are never quite sure where he’s going to pop up next!

Sanuk is Bringin’ the Heat this Summer!

Monday, June 28th, 2010

We don’t need to be told that we are the most comfy sandals around, but we never get tired of hearing it! When you’re hot, you’re hot! And our Yoga Mats are on fire (no, not literally, put away your fire extinguisher).

Unless you’re a penguin wrangler at the North Pole, you’ve probably noticed that summer time is in full effect. You’ve got your beach bod trimmed and ready to rock and sway to the rhythm. Your new threads are spot on. You’ve got a killer pair of shades to boot. But wait- what’s that on your feet? Sanuk Yoga Mats?! Oh baby… Now you’re talking!

Will you be caught wearing a pair? Your toes (and social life) will thank you… Trust us.

Slicing and Dicing with Sanuk’s Randy Leavitt

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Sanuk’s Randy Leavitt is a man of adventure. He thinks it is safe to jump off Half Dome with a parachute, but doesn’t know how to fly a kite? Hmm…

Recently, Randy went for a strapless kiteboarding session in Long Beach, California. During his time on the water a huge gust blew Randy off his board, hurling him downwind. Randy’s board (turned head-seeking missile) spun at him “like an egg beater”. The fins “grazed” his dome piece slicing a 16 staple gash on the top of his head. Not too keen on chumming the waters for sharks, Randy decided it’d be a better idea to kite the 1/2 mile back to shore to snag some help.

According to Randy, the two hour drive back with a throbbin’ headache wasn’t exactly the best way to spend the day. Fortunately, the doc grabbed enough office supplies to staple him back up.

Randy says he can’t wait to get back on the kite. Maybe less fins this time… ouch!

Counting Miles of Comfort in Sanuks

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Ever think about walking 400 miles? Kim Olpin has.

A few days ago, Kim wrote us an email sharing just how far her Sanuks have taken her. Over the past 39 days Kim has walked upwards of 330 miles all for Floating Doctors—a non-profit whose mission is to bring free health care to the most remote communities in the world. Kim’s ambitious goal is to raise $100,000.

Legend has it, Kim set a goal to walk 400 miles in the Los Angeles area. She chose 400 because that equates to 1 mile for every 500 Floating Doctors heading out on their missions this year.

Kim said she has always preferred cruising barefoot or in flip-flops but recently noticed she needed a little more foot protection for this much city slicking. Honestly, just the thought of walking barefoot in LA terrifies the bajeepers out of us… Kim is one brave sole (pun intended).

“If you think it takes forever to get anywhere in LA via freeway, try walking there…”

Kim’s Weapons of Choice: The Vagabond

In Kim’s first week, she tried number of different pairs of “regular” shoes but disliked every single one. No wonder! Shoes are for dorks. Once Kim tried our “not a shoes”, she claims it was love at first step.

Kim has worn them for nearly 300 miles despite naysayers expressing their disbelief. As fellow footwear enthusiast and blogger, Kim has been documenting her slightly crazy endeavor on Wellness Walkabout.

As of June 23rd Kim has walked a total: 352.72 miles with only 47.28 miles remaining. Woot! Keep that pedometer working overtime!
