Saunk’s Balaram Stack Takes the Crown at unsOund Pro in New York

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Believe it or not, New York gets a fair amount of surf. No joke. Aside from the hustle, bustle, bright lights and crazy cabbies, waves do roll through. Rest assured, because where  there is surf- there is bound to be a surf contest. With well organized happenings and a stacked field, The unsOund Pro has been setting the bar high for east coast contests.

As an east coaster, Sanuk’s Balarm Stack, calls New York home. Recently, Stack has been en fuego (means “on fire” in case you haven’t been smellin’ the tostadas lately). Three days before the unsOund Pro, Balaram snagged a 5th place in the unsOund Junior event. He used that momentum to tear through a whole slew of big timers in the men’s rounds.

According to Surfline, Balaram appeared  ”unstoppable”  as he unleashed “a barrage of ariel antics” throughout the event. Thanks to all that consistent shredding, Balaram took the unsOund crown for the first professional win of his career! How ’bout them apples. Not to mention, he also happened to be the first New Yorker to snag a win in New York waters. Boom shaka laka.

Checking In with Sanuk’s Shon Bollock in Upper Klamath, CA

Friday, September 10th, 2010

Sanuk’s Shon Bollock is a whitewater maniac. When he’s not hucking himself down waterfalls he likes to dabble with a little bit of blogging. So, we’ve snagged a little except from Shon’s blog that gives the lowdown on his most recent exploits:

For Labor day weekend myself, Rush Sturges, and Ben Stookesberry decided to enjoy a leisurely day on the Upper Klamath. Its located about an hour and a half from Mt. Shasta which was perfect since we all wanted to make it back for a Sweatshop Union concert that night.

The concert was EPIC and we enjoyed a bbq with good friends. We all had a great time and were stoked to be kayaking and the Sweatshop rager was just the icing on the cake. Here is a little video of the run. Look forward to seeing everyone down at the North Feather Race in a couple weeks. Enjoy and make sure to watch in HD.” – Shon Bollock

Word on the water says Shon’s got a race coming up in a couple weeks, followed by two Shasta Boyz movie premiers. If you’re in their neck of the woods, you’re not going to want to miss ‘em.

Sanuk Surfer Matt Pagan Submits Stylish Video Part to Innersection.tv

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Sanuk surf teamer, Matt Pagan, has submitted an incredible video part to Innersection.tv that showcases his talents at one of California’s most esteemed waves- Lower Trestles.

As a collaborative effort with his filmmaking brother, Matt cranked to meet the deadline for submission. He needs YOUR help to make the cut. His part is so stylee we had to take second look. And a third, fourth and fifth.

Here is some feedback Matt has gotten regarding his part! (Note: Innersection brainman, Taylor Steele, dropping some love)

About Innersection.TV (according to the site itself):

IT’S PRETTY SIMPLE. Surfers/filmers put their sections on the site (week 1). Members rate the sections on a 1-10 scale (week 2), which narrows the field down to Top 10 finalists. Then Members rank the Top 10 in order of preference: 1 thru 10 (week 3). After that, (week 4) we announce the winners and do it all over again.

The five highest rated surf sections will then become part of the Innersection surf movie. They will have the rest of the year to improve their section before it goes on the final DVD.

The final Innersection DVD will include the year’s top 20 sections — five qualifiers from four Rounds of competition. From these 20, you will decide which section deserves the grand prize of $100,000.

Go make your eyes and ears happy now. If you like what Matt has served up, VOTE and give him some love!

Sanuk’s Christian Corzo Gets Muy Caliente in Mexico Men’s Health

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Ay caramba! Who’s the stud? No, not that chiseled dude on the left… We’re talking about international man of mystery and Sanuk surf teamer, Christian Corzo. What you’re gazing at is his recent appearance in Mexico Men’s Health Magazine. With moves like Zorro, Christian has been making washboard abs look like yesterday’s beanbag. He’s the muchacho all the señoritas want to do the macarena with and the hombre all the luchadores wanna dunk in salsa verde.

Hopefully you’ve brushed up on that Spanish, or else you’re going to have one heck of a tiempo reading the article… ¡Arriba!
