Monday, January 10th, 2011

Got a case of the Mondays? Our friends at Walu International can fix that.

Walu International is a non-profit organization traveling the globe on a mission to create smiles for those living in the coastal communities of Papua New Guinea.

They’ve put together this lighthearted documentary to show just how they are making positive changes in peoples lives through education in water & sanitation, surfing, and smiling.

All smiles from these happyheads!

Groms of New Guinea.

Matt’s Trees Needs Your Help!

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

We’d like to take this moment to introduce your to our dear happyheads over at Matt’s Trees- an organization in memory of the late Matt Sloan committed to rebuilding the hurricane-ravaged areas of New Orleans.

At the time of Matt’s untimely death this past June, he was working to rebuild homes in New Orleans that had been destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. It was his vision to establish a nonprofit dedicated to replanting trees and native landscaping that would positively impact the well-being of every returning resident. Matt’s friends and family are now taking his dream into their hands to fulfill.

Shayne’s Sanuks: Somewhere in Puerto Rico

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Welcome to Chapter 2 of Shayne’s Sanuks- a growing collection of photos taken by Sanuk surf shredder/traveler/full-time family man, Shayne McIntyre.

If you’ve missed the first installment and currently staring at your screen, wondering what the @#%! this is… allow us to quickly catch you up to speed: Shayne McIntyre is the ringleader of a jet-setting, adventure-seeking, surf-scoring family. Their adventures are so awesome in fact, they’ve got their very own television show- ‘On Surfari‘ which airs on FuelTV.

Aside from being a loving father, professional surfer, and devilishly handsome man, Shayne also takes incredible photos (while wearing his Sanuks – duh!)

Every time Shayne heads to a new place, a new installment of “Shayne’s Sanuks” will be showcased. All words to follow have been written on the road by Shayne himself. Enjoy!

“Shannon and I’s Sanuks in the water for the Finals at the Rip Curl Pro “Somewhere in Puerto Rico.”

“Kelly floating to victory in the final.  It was amazing to see an athlete dominate on a level like that.  He was unstoppable.”

“Puerto Rico color at the event.”

“My Daughter, Coral, representing her island when local boy Dylan Graves went head to head with Slater.  Go Dylan!”

“My Son, Banyan, could care less who was surfing, the tide pools were the bigger draw for him.”

“Definitely my favorite surf photo I have ever snapped – Kelly dropping in on a heavy left at a secret spot in PR while Pottz looks on.  Sent this one to Surfer’s Journal expecting they’d want it as a cover.  They haven’t called back yet!”

“Rest in Peace A.I.  One of the greatest surfers ever.”

Where in the world will Shayne go next?

Sanuk Gets a Visit from Debbie in the OC

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Because you’re reading this, you’ve clearly achieved some mastery over this new fangled thing called the Internet… Either that or you just got really, really, ridiculously lucky and landed on our blog. Either way, Congratulations! We’re glad you stopped by.

While you’re here, allow us to introduce you to a newly acquired friend of ours: Debbie Lavdas (a.k.a Debbie in the OC).

Debbie is a freelance writer, YouTube videocaster and avid flip-flop fanatic. Her weekly stories on what’s happening in Orange County (our home) cover everything from events, style, green and even health. Debbie’s unique spotlights showcase the latest trends, greatest happenings and hidden gems Orange County has to offer. Basically, she roams the county strategically so you don’t have to aimlessly. Pretty schnazzy right? We thought so too.

Recently, Debbie dropped into Sanuk HQ (unsolicited might we add) where she met up with our media-magicians and SANUK NEWS Lead Anchors Joey Maiocco and Scott “Bone” Nichols, to get the low down on what we’ve been up to… Oh, she’s a brave soul.

Like her vibe? Want to see more! Then, check Debbie out on:
