Music to Make You Move: Nick Saxon

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

G’day happyheads!

In case you hadn’t heard, our friends at Sanuk Australia are dishin’ out good vibes by the truckload. Every now and then, their trademark, smile-worthy ways make their way above the equator for a visit.

This summer, we had the privilege of meeting, mingling and jamming with Sanuk Australia’s beloved soloist/singer/songwriter/producer, Nick Saxon. Nick hails from Newcastle, NSW and has a sound all his own.

His rootsy, euphoric beats provide the jog for the high-spirited and soothe the souls of all. You know? The kind of stuff you’d want soundtracking your sun-soaked daydreams of an adventure “down under”.

Wouldn’tcha know, it’s been 12 months since Nick released latest album, “Hide & Seek“. Since then, Nick has been around the globe (even stopping by Sanuk HQ), to discover firsthand the “highs ‘n lows” of life as an international touring artist.

From Aukland, NZ to New York, USA & back again, Nick’s last trek sold over 3,500 copies of his album worldwide, clocked 50,000kms in travel, 200+ live shows and countless amazing encounters.

With such an incredible journey under his belt, Nick recently announced that he’ll be heading back to the studio to record a brand new EP. (Insert massive, shiny smile). Quite frankly, we’re so excited we just had to share! Kindly enjoy this sneak peak:

Carefree Cravings: Seth Pettersen & the Undertow

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

So you’re having a backyard barbecue. The brats, brews, and buddies are all raring to go. Heck, even your unreasonably attractive neighbors said they would stop by! Score.

But somethings missing. You need one last ingredient to make everything really click (other than your Sanuks, duh). What you need is the perfect soundtrack! Some sort of musical mojo to kick get everyone feelin’ care free.

Make room on that playlist for our pal Seth Pettersen- A good ol’ boy from Ventura, California with a sound as soothing as that aloe vera you’ll be needing after all that drunken bocce-ball

Yep, your shindig is now in full effect. Next thing you know, day turns to night with no end in sight. Your friends make that second beer run, someone lights the bonfire and – wait a minute - is someone’s naked in the pool?! It’s a good day.

Sanuk’s Music Men Play Love Hope Strength Benefit Show

Friday, January 21st, 2011

As one of Southern California’s most awe-thumb venues, The Slidebar Rock ‘n Roll Cafe is no stranger to hosting stellar shows.

On January 19th, the stage was set as Sanuk funksolebrothers, Donavon Frankenreiter and Seth Pettersen, geared up and grooved out for a special Love Hope Strength benefit show.

Hundreds of harmony-hungry happyheads (Say that 5 times fast…) packed the halls to witness an intimate show with two incredible musicians. Before the place knew it, the lights dimmed and the volume knobs cranked.

Here are a few photos from the event taken by Sanuk News lead anchor, Joey Maiocco.

This place knows how to jam.

Things were elbow to elbow and wall to wall as Seth Pettersen took to the stage.

This happy (hairy) couple was all smiles as “Baby Buddah” came seeping from the Seth’s speakers.

Seth set the tone for the night by strumming his way into the crowd’s ears and hearts.

Sanuk’s Grizzly Adam and the Consistently Awkward Kevin Lorber ‘staching and stoking out the masses.

Sanuk’s guru of grooves, Donavon Frankenreiter, in his acoustic serenade.

Diamond Donny and bandmate Matt Grundy played a mix new songs and old favorites. (Note the perfect bro ‘stache application in the background…)

To close the show, Donavon invited Seth back out on stage to cover “The Weight” by The Band- a surefire crowd pleaser.

“…and put it all on me!”

Special thanks to the Slidebar Crew, Tim, Love Hope Strength and everyone that came out to enjoy the night!
