Shayne’s Sanuks: Chilled in Canada

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Welcome to Chapter 5 of Shayne’s Sanuks – a growing collection of photos taken by Sanuk surf shredder/traveler/full-time family man, Shayne McIntyre.

This time, Shayne treks through the rough ‘n rugged coast of Canada with select crew of legendary waterman. While not typically thought of as a premier surf-destination, Canada does have waves… but, only for those salty (or crazy) enough to battle good ol’ Mother Nature.

The following snapshots and words are from the man himself:

My Sanuks: The Shunami Primo. The beaches in British Columbia are full of all kind of interesting flotsam from 10,000lb. logs to baline…

My favorite pic from the trip.  This is a photo of World Champion Surfer, Tom Carroll (center), Legendary Lensman, Jeff Hornbaker (left), and Quiksilver cinematographer, Pat Myers (right), in the moment.

Mark Healey, suited up in his 6ml + gloves & booties a long way from Hawaii.

First time I’ve driven through snow to get surf.

Tom Carroll SUPing a stream riddled with Steelhead Salmon the size of your thigh in crystal clear 40 degree water.

If a tree falls in the woods…it’s all about composition.

Never met a tough as nails surfer like Raph Bruhwiler – Canadian Frontiersman, Father, & ice cold tube aficionado.

Oysters for the picking.

Shayne’s Sanuks: Cruising the Caribbean

Welcome to Chapter 4 of Shayne’s Sanuks- a growing collection of photos taken by Sanuk surf shredder/traveler/full-time family man, Shayne McIntyre.

This time, you’ll get a glimpse of life in the Caribbean. The following photographs and words are from the man himself…

One thing that I love about living in the Caribbean is that all the islands are relatively close – an hour flight here, and hour there…One island chain that keeps drawing me back is the BVI’s (British Virgin Islands). Comprised primarily of Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and a plethora of islets surrounding those, this place is a Corona ad at every turn.

The water is too clear, the island too laid-back, and what you’ve been sold about the Caribbean over the years comes to life before your very eyes.  Here’s a few pics from my last visit:

AirPropellor: I’m loving my new iPhone and it has a cool shutter speed that makes your airplane propellor look like it’s falling off.  I took 50 of these pics and every time I turned my phone another angle it would look completely different.  Great way to keep busy on a 30 minute flight from Puerto Rico to the BVIs.

BombaShack: This is the sign in front of the “Bomba Shack,”- infamous for wild parties that’d even E! wouldn’t dare film.  But it’s empty in the daytime, which is the only time I’d walk in!

Apple Bay: This is a beautiful wave on it’s day and shown here about 1ft. right in front of the Bomba Shack.  I’ve had some clean way overhead barrels out here – perfectly offshore.

.
Island Pic: So close yet so far away – another island in the BVIs.

My Sanuks: This is another reason I moved to the Caribbean – I love the colors.

Welcome to Chapter 2 of Shayne’s Sanuks- a growing collection of photos taken by Sanuk surf shredder/traveler/full-time family man, Shayne McIntyre.

If you’ve missed the first installment and currently staring at your screen, wondering what the @#%! this is… allow us to quickly catch you up to speed: Shayne McIntyre is the ringleader of a jet-setting, adventure-seeking, surf-scoring family. Their adventures are so awesome in fact, they’ve got their very own television show- ‘On Surfari‘ which airs on FuelTV.

Aside from being a loving father, professional surfer, and devilishly handsome man, Shayne also takes incredible photos (while wearing his Sanuks – duh!)

Every time Shayne heads to a new place, a new installment of “Shayne’s Sanuks” will be showcased. All words to follow have been written on the road by Shayne himself. Enjoy!

“Shannon and I’s Sanuks in the water for the Finals at the Rip Curl Pro “Somewhere in Puerto Rico.”

“Kelly floating to victory in the final.  It was amazing to see an athlete dominate on a level like that.  He was unstoppable.”

“Puerto Rico color at the event.”

“My Daughter, Coral, representing her island when local boy Dylan Graves went head to head with Slater.  Go Dylan!”

“My Son, Banyan, could care less who was surfing, the tide pools were the bigger draw for him.”

“Definitely my favorite surf photo I have ever snapped – Kelly dropping in on a heavy left at a secret spot in PR while Pottz looks on.  Sent this one to Surfer’s Journal expecting they’d want it as a cover.  They haven’t called back yet!”

“Rest in Peace A.I.  One of the greatest surfers ever.”

Sanuk Introduces New Photo Series: Shayne’s Sanuks

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

While most known for his travel-inspired show, On Surfari, Shayne McIntyre, is a man of many talents. More dashing than George Clooney and armed with a proper cutback (a surfing term, NOT a sexual innuendo), Shayne travels the world with his family in search of surf, adventure and smiles.

So what does a traveling family bring on their many journeys around the globe? Let’s see… surfboards, gear, wax, trunks, supplies, entertainment for the kids, cameras, and of course- Sanuks- the ultimate travel companions.

This is where Shayne’s idea enters the frame (Pun definitely intended).

Shayne came to the our Creative Team with a novel vision- one through which he could share the sights he and his Sanuks see from the far reaches of the globe. Without further ado, allow us to introduce a new project near and dear to our soles called, Shayne’s Sanuks.

Chapter 1 comes to you from the McyIntyre’s current stomping grounds: Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.

To catch Shayne and his family in the act, brush up on his show, On Surfari, which currently airs on Fuel TV.

Shayne will also be appearing in an upcoming, side-splitting episode of SANUK NEWS!

Sanuk Family Man Shayne McIntyre Premiers ‘On Surfari:Haiti’ at Rusty Del Mar

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Recently, Rusty Surfboards in Del Mar held a world premier screening of On Surfari: Haiti in their back parking lot.  The good ol’ fashioned night out was chalk full of soulful fun as 250+ humans rallied to support Sanuk’s Shayne McIntyre’s unveiling of two fresh episodes of his show On Surfari. Shayne, a world-traveling soul surfer and full-time family man, has a show on Fuel TV that documents his family’s travels everywhere where they go.

For the event, the On Surfari crew even put together a gargantuan raffle to benefit the people of Haiti.  If you weren’t able to make it out for the event, fear not, because the screening of the episode will debut shortly on Fuel TV.

As Fuel TV states, “Shannon and Shayne have lucked into some kind of perma-honeymoon, except rather than egocentrically living for themselves on their incredible adventures, the McIntyre’s use their celebrity to better local communities”.
