Sound the trumpets, ring the alarm and kick up those happy feet because Green/Flash Art Surf Shop is hosting an art show to celebrate their opening. It’s called “Cardiff Collaborative” and will feature artworks by: Susan Wickstrand, Julie Goldstein, Kevin Roche, Wade Koniakowsky, Roy Soravia, Ash Francomb, Kris DeGrazio and more!

Here’s a sweet little series of photos from Green/Flash.
The show started July 3rd and will run until the 17th. This means you have more time to feed your arty side. At Sanuk, we know that beautiful things happen when you combine surfing and art. It doesn’t get much better than that. Well, unless you’ve got a pair of Sanuk on your feet while you peruse the walls of course.
Pop on over and say,”Hola”. Tell ‘em Sanuk sent ya!

Modern day spiderwoman, Sierra Blair-Coyle, has been quite the show stopper this year! At just 16 years of age, Sierra qualified to compete in the 2010 IFSC Professional Bouldering World Cup. At the ABS Nationals, Blair-Coyle was the lone 16-year-old to finish in the top 5 at the qualifying event. As perhaps the top rock climber of her age, Blair-Coyle has proven that she has the talent to make big moves at the elite level.

At the Teva Mountain Games, Blair-Coyle was among the athletes competing on an artificial climbing wall with a height of nearly 20 feet. 20 feet? No big deal right? …Wrong-O! The wall was for bouldering…where ropes aren’t used.
Many tout bouldering as the fastest growing segment of rock climbing due to the high risk- high reward factor. Climbers are given scores based on how far up the wall they can climb without falling. As always, the top of the wall marks the desired destination.
For Sierra, the Teva Moutain Games proved a perfect opportunity for Sierra to size up the stacked field of elite women climbers. In an Bennington Banner article, Sierra said she had, “never seen so many talented people in one place” and “…knew it was going to be a super-tough competition.”

As the youngest competitor in the women’s division, Blair-Coyle finished an impressive 18th out of 34 with no regrets. She was stoked on her performance and knew that she had given it her best effort. Competition at the elite level opened Blair-Coyle’s eyes to a wide world. She returned home a with a rejuvenated focus. Don’t let the sweet sixteen stigma fool you, Sierra already has some pearls of wisdom in those chalk pockets of hers. She knows what she needs to work on—strength. Because, “the stronger you are, the easier it is to go slower.”

Sanuk’s Randy Leavitt is a man of adventure. He thinks it is safe to jump off Half Dome with a parachute, but doesn’t know how to fly a kite? Hmm…
Recently, Randy went for a strapless kiteboarding session in Long Beach, California. During his time on the water a huge gust blew Randy off his board, hurling him downwind. Randy’s board (turned head-seeking missile) spun at him “like an egg beater”. The fins “grazed” his dome piece slicing a 16 staple gash on the top of his head. Not too keen on chumming the waters for sharks, Randy decided it’d be a better idea to kite the 1/2 mile back to shore to snag some help.

According to Randy, the two hour drive back with a throbbin’ headache wasn’t exactly the best way to spend the day. Fortunately, the doc grabbed enough office supplies to staple him back up.

Randy says he can’t wait to get back on the kite. Maybe less fins this time… ouch!

Sanuk’s Donavon Frankenreiter is at it again…

Donny has just released “Revisited”, a complete reinterpretation of his 2004 self-titled debut. Don’t sleep on this one because this aint just a re-recording. Oh no bruddah- the mustachioed maestro has some big time aloha spirit that gets conveyed through a myriad of hawaiian melodies and new sounds.
According to his Facebook, Donavon “felt inspired to pour his newfound love for the Hawaiian sound and laid back island vibe into a creative medium”. On the record you’ll find your body swaying to some traditional Hawaiian instruments. Ukuleles, lap steel and slack key guitars give a “completely new sound to favorites like ‘It Don’t Matter’ and ‘Free’. So, grab yourself a big ol’ mixplate, an ice cold island lager and throw couple shakas because summer has a new soundtrack.
