Sanuk’s Chris Tucker Doesn’t Stink at ESA Easterns …Sort of.

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

At the most recent stop on the ESA Surfing Tour, Sanuk’s Chris Tucker bagged a BIG 1st place finish in Open Mens Division and 2nd in Junior Mens Division. Tucker was hungry to stake his claim atop the podium.

According to posting on Transworld Surf, Chris stayed focused with a barrage of “vigorous, dynamic slashes, tailblows, and air reverses in the diminishing knee-to-waist-high peaks” – Skeptical. Ha. Just take a gander at the visuals.

Chris’s motto for the contest- if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. From the pre-heat rituals to the stretches on the beach, Chris stuck to a routine that worked like magic. He even wore the same shirt and boardshorts everyday of the event…

Chris on going for the grunge: “They’re starting to stink pretty bad, but it’s working so I’ve just stayed with it.” Congrats, Chris! Job well done. Now that the events over, you might want to find the nearest laundromat.

The ESA stop saw a dominance Sanuk teamriders on all fronts. Sanuk wondergrom, Stevie Pittman, took 2nd place in the Menehune Division. Alex Fawess snagged a 2nd in Men’s Longboard.

What are we feeding these shredders, you ask? Gummy worm. Lots and lots of gummy worms.

Sanuk’s Ashley Beeson Uses Momentum to Capture 2nd Place at Ponto

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Few things in the surfing world can rival watching young surfers do what makes them smile. When it comes to surfers (most of the time), the ones with the biggest smiles are the youngest ones in the water.  Young surfers, or “groms”, as they’re affectionately titled always manage to keep the good times- well, great.

Sanuk surf grom Ashley Beeson has been setting her sights high in the WSA surfing world. Recently, Ashley competed in a Western Surfing Association (WSA) contest at Ponto down in San Diego County.  In the Girls Under 12 event, Ashley took the 4th place spot.

“I only had one good wave and didn’t get a second.” according to the little shredzilla.

But, in Girls Under 16 Division, Ashley looked in form as she stuck a 2nd place in her Semifinal heat AND took 2nd in the Final!

Ashley is looking to keep the momentum rolling at the next WSA stop!

Saunk’s Balaram Stack Takes the Crown at unsOund Pro in New York

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Believe it or not, New York gets a fair amount of surf. No joke. Aside from the hustle, bustle, bright lights and crazy cabbies, waves do roll through. Rest assured, because where  there is surf- there is bound to be a surf contest. With well organized happenings and a stacked field, The unsOund Pro has been setting the bar high for east coast contests.

As an east coaster, Sanuk’s Balarm Stack, calls New York home. Recently, Stack has been en fuego (means “on fire” in case you haven’t been smellin’ the tostadas lately). Three days before the unsOund Pro, Balaram snagged a 5th place in the unsOund Junior event. He used that momentum to tear through a whole slew of big timers in the men’s rounds.

According to Surfline, Balaram appeared  ”unstoppable”  as he unleashed “a barrage of ariel antics” throughout the event. Thanks to all that consistent shredding, Balaram took the unsOund crown for the first professional win of his career! How ’bout them apples. Not to mention, he also happened to be the first New Yorker to snag a win in New York waters. Boom shaka laka.

Sanuk Surfer Matt Pagan Submits Stylish Video Part to Innersection.tv

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Sanuk surf teamer, Matt Pagan, has submitted an incredible video part to Innersection.tv that showcases his talents at one of California’s most esteemed waves- Lower Trestles.

As a collaborative effort with his filmmaking brother, Matt cranked to meet the deadline for submission. He needs YOUR help to make the cut. His part is so stylee we had to take second look. And a third, fourth and fifth.

Here is some feedback Matt has gotten regarding his part! (Note: Innersection brainman, Taylor Steele, dropping some love)

About Innersection.TV (according to the site itself):

IT’S PRETTY SIMPLE. Surfers/filmers put their sections on the site (week 1). Members rate the sections on a 1-10 scale (week 2), which narrows the field down to Top 10 finalists. Then Members rank the Top 10 in order of preference: 1 thru 10 (week 3). After that, (week 4) we announce the winners and do it all over again.

The five highest rated surf sections will then become part of the Innersection surf movie. They will have the rest of the year to improve their section before it goes on the final DVD.

The final Innersection DVD will include the year’s top 20 sections — five qualifiers from four Rounds of competition. From these 20, you will decide which section deserves the grand prize of $100,000.

Go make your eyes and ears happy now. If you like what Matt has served up, VOTE and give him some love!
