Ramon Navarro Gets His Ragdoll on in XXL Chilean Surf

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Sanuk has had a few mad men end up on Surfline’s Greatest Wipeouts lately…. This time, it’s Chile’s Ramon Navarro. Ramon is known for pushing the limits with a big Sanuk style smile on his face. As an avid chaser of waves the sizes of skyscrapers, Navarro has come to learn that big waves are not so friendly depsite their sometimes perfect appearance. What once looked like a good idea, can quickly turn into a very precarious situation. In a recent feature on Surfline, Navarro retells a Chilean wave gone wrong… Brace yourself.

If Godzilla were a wave… You’d be looking at him. This spill is definitely one for the ages. Ramon gets gobbled up but that doesn’t stop him from keeping it classy. We could listen to Ramon tell stories all day. You have to love how his eyes just light up. If they made XXL waves out of positivity, there’s no question Ramon would be on it.

Sanuk’s Shane Dorian Chases XXL Waves with XXL Consequences

Thursday, June 17th, 2010
Shane Dorian may not be the biggest guy in the water, but don’t let that fool you for one second because he has the huevos of a 12-ton silverback gorilla. BS you say? Look closely. See that tiny spec getting tubed out this universe?

Yep, that would be Shane Dorian. Our very own Mighty Mouse. Rest assured the Sanuk stickers on his board have witnessed views few ever get to experience…or want to for that matter.

In the eyes of respected Hawaiian waterman, Dave Wassel, Shane is  ”perhaps the best big-wave rider of his generation”. As a humble human, Shane may not tell you that himself, but it’s obvious he is no stranger to the compromising situations and heavy consequences XXL waves bring.

As a dedicated swell-hunter, Shane makes it a priority to hop flights around the world in search of the waves that would scare the pants of most mere mortals. This time, the looming challenge on his big-wave plate was none other than the Half-Moon Bay juggernaut, Mavericks. In a recent Surfline interview, Shane recounts his first session there. Shane scored “some of the biggest surf ever paddled into”. You can bet he needed some comfy sandals to kick back and recoup afterwards…
